The UK is a world leader
in science and technology, fostering
some of the most exciting scientific
discoveries, such as the creation of
the World Wide Web and the discovery
of the structure of DNA. Innovation
drives the science scene in the UK,
in combination with a powerful research
base, strong ties between research and
industry, and a committed and supportive
science policy.
The UK seeks to actively develop relationships
with other countries in the field of
Science & Innovation through the
Foreign and Commonwealth Office's network
of Science and Innovation attachés
and through the British Council's Global
Network. Together they constitute a
truly global network with representation
in over 60 countries world-wide. Both
teams work in partnership to promote
excellence and creativity of UK science
and Innovation overseas and build lasting
sustainable relationships as well as
providing a knowledge base with which
to inform policy. The teams create awareness
amongst the public and policy makers
with lectures, debates, seminars, exhibitions,
events and information dissemination.

Innovation team and the British
Council encourages young scientists
to study or work in Britain by promoting
research collaborations, facilitates
technology transfer and works closely
with the High Commission’s Trade
and Investment Teams. The team also
reports on Indian S&I policy and
developments and promotes the excellence
of the UK science base.
Various funding initiative and schemes
are available for students, research
